AI Software Assurance

AI can write your software. Who's checking it?

AI coding tools make it possible to build sophisticated software faster than ever. But software that works isn't always secure, maintainable or ready for real customers. An independent engineering review shows you what you've built, where the risks are and what to do next.

Who it's for

Build faster with AI. Move forward with confidence.

AI-assisted development is a powerful way to build software, and we're all for it. The question isn't whether a person or a model wrote the code. It's whether anyone independent has checked it, which any serious software needs, however it was made.

Founders and managing directors

You've built the product. Now make sure it's ready for the real world.

You've used a tool such as Claude Code, Cursor, Lovable or Replit to build an application that works. Before real customers and their data arrive, you want an experienced engineer to look under the bonnet.

  • Is it secure?
  • Can I launch it safely with real customer data?
  • Could a developer I hire take it over?
  • Will the design cope as it grows?
  • Am I storing up expensive problems for later?
  • What will it cost to host, maintain and support?

Businesses with development teams

AI speeds your team up. Independent oversight keeps it in control.

Your developers rely more and more on AI-generated code. You want to know your standards are holding, without slowing the team down or second-guessing every change.

  • Is everyone keeping to the same engineering standards?
  • Are AI-generated changes letting security problems in?
  • Is the code getting harder to understand and change?
  • Do the automated tests check the things that matter?
  • Could the team explain and support it without the AI?
  • Is technical debt building up faster than it's paid off?

Three reviews

From a quick check to the whole team.

Start with the smallest review that answers your question. Each has a fixed price, based on the size of your application and agreed with you before any work starts.

AI Software Health Check

A quick, honest look before you go further.

A first independent assessment of an application built with AI, or with its help. Designed for smaller products and early-stage businesses. You get a short findings report and a call to talk it through.

  • Architecture and design
  • Security
  • Code quality, sampled
  • Maintainability, sampled

AI Development Governance Review

How your whole team uses AI, reviewed.

For established organisations that want independent oversight of how AI coding tools are used across their development teams. You get recommendations for AI-assisted development that lasts.

  • Policies and working practices for AI
  • Code review and approval
  • Security and quality controls
  • Testing and release
  • Developer accountability and ownership
  • Risks from dependencies and design decisions chosen by AI

The Geekwork Maintainability Test

Could another engineer take it over? We find out.

Automated tools can tell you how code looks. They can't tell you whether a person can live with it. So we pick two representative features and work on them as an engineer who has never seen your application. It's a test of real-world maintainability, not just whether a tool reports problems.

  1. 01

    Understand

Can an engineer new to the application understand how the features work, and explain them?

  2. 02

    Diagnose

Can they investigate a realistic problem and find its cause?

  3. 03

    Enhance

Can they work out how to add to the features safely, following the patterns already there?

  4. 04

    Take over

Are the code, documentation and tests enough for another engineer to take ownership?

GEEKWORK> Maintainability Test
Example
Application
Booking app for a chain of fitness studios, built with an AI coding tool
Feature 1
Booking and paying for a class
Feature 2
Importing members from a spreadsheet
  • Pass

UnderstandBoth features explained in under an hour. Clear names, sensible structure.

  • Advisory

DiagnoseA failed payment was traced, but errors are hidden in two places, so the logs didn't help.

  • Advisory

EnhanceA discount code fits the existing pattern. But the price rules are copied in three places: change one, miss two.

  • Fail

Take overNo setup notes, and the tests check that pages load, not that prices are right.

Maintainable, with work. Fix first: tests for prices, then error logging.

How a review works

Tools cover the ground. An engineer makes the judgement.

Automated analysis and AI let us look at more of your code, faster. An experienced engineer checks every finding and decides what really matters to your business.

01

Talk

A free call about what you've built and what's worrying you. A written summary the same day, then a fixed price for the review.

02

Share

You give us access to the code and anything else that helps: documentation, hosting details, how it was built. All handled in confidence.

03

Review

Automated tools and AI do the legwork. An engineer reads the code, runs the Maintainability Test and checks every finding.

04

Report

A written assessment with an overall verdict, then a call to go through the findings and agree what to fix first.

What you get

A verdict you can act on, with the evidence behind it.

Written so the managing director and the developer can both act on it: plain English up front, the detail behind it. The summary here is an example.

  • An independent engineering assessment, with an overall verdict
  • Findings backed by evidence, each with a severity rating
  • Prioritised recommendations and next steps
  • An assessment of the architecture, and notes on the documentation
  • An assessment of maintainability and engineering ownership
  • Readiness to run, and ongoing costs, where they're in scope
  • A call to go through the findings

Example
Application
Tenant portal for a 20-person lettings agency
Built
In 10 weeks, by the managing director, with AI coding tools
Verdict
Ready to launch after three fixes
  • High

Other tenants' documentsChanging a number in the web address shows another tenant's tenancy agreement.

  • Medium

Payment keysSaved in the code, where anyone with a copy can see them.

  • Medium

BackupsThe database is backed up every night. Nobody has ever tried restoring it.

  • Low

Audit trailNo record of which member of staff changed a tenant's details.

  • Good

StructureClear and consistent. A new developer could pick it up.

1 high, 2 medium, 1 low. Fix first: tenants' documents, then the payment keys. The evidence for each finding is in the full report.

The small print

Up front, so there are no surprises.

What a review is, what it isn't, and how we look after your code.

  • PriceEvery review has a fixed price, based on its scope and agreed with you before any work starts.
  • What it isn'tA review is a risk-based engineering assessment. It isn't a penetration test or a formal security certification. If you need one of those as well, we'll tell you.
  • ConfidentialYour code and documentation are handled in confidence.
  • CheckedAnything our tools or AI find is checked by an experienced engineer before it goes in your report.
  • Kept localWhere confidentiality demands it, the AI analysis runs on our own machines, so your code isn't sent to an outside AI service.
